1949 Oldsmobile Futuramic Series “76” – 4 Door Sedan

Truewest Imports’ Inventory is always being updated with great American classic vehicles.

The stock in our inventory has recently been boosted by the inclusion of a wonderful example of an old classic American automobile. This all original, unmolested survivor example of the 1949 Oldsmobile Futuramic 76 Four Door Sedan is in amazing condition for its age.

The Oldsmobile Series 70 was produced by General Motors during the 1940s and very early 1950s. There were two versions, the 76 and the 78. Both the 76 and 78 were nearly identical, except for their mechanical components. The 6 and 8 in the 76 and 78 respectively symbolized their engine size. This particular vehicle has the straight-six cylinder motor.

Prior to 1941 most US car manufacturers used manual gear boxes in their mass produced vehicles, however, in 1941 Oldsmobile was the first to introduce the fully automatic (Hydromatic) gearbox with four forward gears. Advertising proclaimed it “the greatest advance since the self-starter.”

The all new post-war Futuramic styling that had been introduced to the C-body Oldsmobile 98 in 1948 was brought to Oldsmobile’s B-bodies in 1949. The 78 model was retired with the 1949 introduction of the Oldsmobile 88, which shared its new Futuramic platform with the 76 but was equipped with the new overhead valve Rocket V8. Due to the new styling the 76 was renamed the Futuramic 76.

DETAILS:

  • Exterior: This Oldsmobile Futuramic 76 which has a body by Fisher and was manufactured in Lansing, Michigan is painted in the factory Black colour which is still in good condition. The undercarriage is solid with only surface rust visible. The exterior chrome is also in great condition and the vehicle has the original Hub Caps which are also in very good condition. Overall the car is in wonderful condition as it has been housed in a climate controlled building.
  • Interior: The Original Upholstery is in good condition, with no tears, rips or seam separations on the seats. It has seat belts and turning signals which are in good and working condition. The dash is in good condition as are the door panels. The vehicle comes with the optional Push Button Radio and Clock. The steering wheel is excellent with absolutely no cracks
  • Driveline: The 3794 cc/ 231.5 cu in. inline 6 cylinder engine (which gives this vehicle the 76 designation) is in excellent condition and shows 31,156 Original Miles. The engine has had a recent detailing to bring it back to its factory like finish. The 4 speed Hydromatic gearbox has no problems and changes through the gears smoothly and cleanly.

This is a beautiful Old Car Survivor which will only increase in value in the coming years.

TrueWest Imports has this classic vehicle listed on our site for only US$13,900

The price listed is in US$ but I can provide you with an all-inclusive “as landed” cost to have this great example of a genuine survivor Oldsmobile imported to Fremantle or any other Port in Australia or New Zealand.

STOLEN! Dave & Jill Iversen Bike – Harley Evo landspeed race bike

Please have a read, and re-post, Tweet or use any Social Media to find this.

Landspeed BikeLandspeedbike 1

According to Dave and Jill Iverson

Someone stole our Harley Evo landspeed race bike at El Mirage during the night on Saturday May 17th. It’s a 96cu.in. S & S motor. Five speed trans with kicker.

PLEASE look at the pictures and post as much as you can.

We had it displayed next to the motorcycle tech trailer with a for sale sign. Dave raced this bike last season and we thought that location would be an excellent, safe place to display it. It was stolen between Saturday night sunset and sunrise this morning. (18/05/14)
This bike was custom built by Dave Iversen and is ridden in a laydown postiion with the shifter and brake at the back axle. IT IS FOR LANDSPEED RACING, not street riding but could be reconfigured for street use.

The return of this bike undamaged without facing charges is on the table for a very short time. Let us know where we can pick up our bike.

Your reward for doing so will save your ass from the landspeed family of thousands of members.

It’s a strong community of racers, riders and bikers, and will ALL of them will be looking for YOU!

If anybody hears anything, can they please contact Woody Downing at woodys57@pacbell.net

The Pricing

As I referred to in my previous post, TrueWest Imports offers a “one-stop-shop” importing service to get your dream car from the US to Australia .

We recommend always obtaining a pre-purchase inspection of any vehicle you may be interested in, even if it is from our extensive inventory.  A couple of inspectors (who are NOT affiliated with us) that we highly recommend are:

What we can do for you

TrueWest logoHaving imported vehicles into Australia in the past and had difficulties with trying to have the vehicle landed into Fremantle, we decided to set up business so that Western Australians, in particular, but Australians in general, can have their dream vehicle exported from the US and shipped to the port of their choice in Australia for a “one amount covers all” price.
